Nathalie Couzon was a teacher and manager for our model school in Shanghai. I consider Ms. Couzon’s contributions to the success of the model school to be a significant factor in the acceptance of our library program throughout China. Nathalie was tasked with teaching, marketing assistance, the hiring and training of new teachers, product development, QC and CRM functions. In this capacity, Nathalie was an exemplary teacher.
She has not only given us her direct feedback, but she has suggested how to improve and streamline our teacher packages.
I believe you will find her positive attitude and willingness to help to be a boon to your organization and its efforts.Paul O'Sullivan
I was the CELTA tutor for Nathalie Couzon in August 2018.
Nathalie proved herself to be an enthusiastic teacher who was keen to learn new techniques and put them into practice in her teaching.
Nathalie established a good rapport with the students from the outset and her planning and teaching showed a good understanding of English language learning and teaching, enabling her students to make progress in their language ability.
She showed awareness of the learners so that they benefitted from the lessons. it was a pleasure to work with her, and we are confident she will continue to develop effectively as a teacher.Oksana Semenova
I was a tutor for Nathalie Couzon during her IHCYLT studies in October 2018.
Nathalie was an extremely motivated course participant who showed a good understanding of English learning and teaching processes. Nathalie was able to independently plan engaging and challenging lessons that catered to the students’ needs, interests and learner styles. She has an excellent rapport with her students and she responds to and assists students very well. Her teaching skills are solid and she achieved good learning outcomes for her learners. Nathalie demonstrated that she is already an effective teacher and I am sure she will continue developing further.Tom Duerden
I want to pass an IELTS exam. I don't know much about it except that it proves a current English level. Can you help me to clarify it? Can I prepare for it by myself?
Sure. If to put it briefly the IELTS does prove your English ability level for a current period. Depending on your goal there are 2 types of IELTS exam: General and Academic Modules.
The IELTS General Training test is for those who are going to English speaking countries for secondary education, work experience or training programs. It is also a requirement for migration to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. The test focuses on basic survival skills in broad social and workplace contexts.
The IELTS Academic test is for people applying for higher education or professional registration in an English speaking environment. It reflects some of the features of academic language and assesses whether you are ready to begin studying or training.
You should remember that the IELTS result is valid for 2 years then you need to repass it.
You can prepare by yourself especially if your English speaking level is high enough, especially there are many accessible preparation materials in the internet today. However, if you aren’t confident enough in your knowledge I recommend you to prepare with an IELTS tutor as there are many specific tasks in the exam, which require additional explanation, support and training with the professional. ASK ME MORE about the IELTS, I can HELP you to prepare for it. BOOK a class with me.
Nowadays so many teachers use technology in their classes. How can it help learning? Does it mean only games on smart boards? What do you think of technology in the classroom and how have you integrated it into your lessons?
I believe that technology in the classroom can be a valuable asset that helps students learn. While working with kindergarten or primary school children it is essential to make them interested before they will start learning something. Games, cartoons, songs, pictures can help to make teaching-learning process much more engaging and bring positive outcome much faster. For older students, students and adults technology is also a preferable way of learning in most cases. In my practice doing audio tasks and discussion tasks after a video sample is a good way to see real results and promote self-confidence. However, I also think it has the potential to be a distraction and requires the teacher to have an established plan for acceptable use.
As a mother of a schoolboy who is quite naughty I am concerned about behavior issues that can occur in class. How will you deal with discipline and unwanted behavior?
I believe that discipline is an important part of the learning process. I state my classroom rules and common routines clearly from the very beginning to help both me as a teacher and your son as a learner work as a team. I use lots of positive reinforcement. I’m firm, but I never yell. I have appropriate consequences for inappropriate behavior. In my experience, students do not respond well to forceful discipline. They want a framework where they agree to the rules, are respected as individuals, and are held accountable for their decisions and actions. Moreover, I suspect discipline problems will be minimal because my lessons are very interesting and engaging to students.
I would like to know about my daughter's progress, what are her successes and what she still needs to work on. Will I be able to discuss with you about it? How do you interact with parents?
Of course yes! I’m even glad to contact to parents and discuss progress of their children as I think it is a crucial point in a whole learning process. It is beneficial both for a learner and a teacher. If parents are aware of learning results and what is required to do more to reach their goals, parents will take an active part as well by helping their children to prepare at home and review before classes. I provide contact information for parents and encourage them to contact me if they have any questions about their child’s performance or progress. I approach parental communication in a way that puts us all on the same team with the same goal, which is ensuring the success of the student.
